Easter

Easter,

On the Saturday, we went to a little Easter fair that was in the park, it was rather nice with lots of little games to play lots of little things to see, and all for free. A local church put it on, (local to the Hammonds not to me), we got candy floss (cotton candy) but Sarah didn't like it. I love it so i got to eat it...yummy.

On Easter day we went to church to find out that we were an hour late...i forgot it started at 9 not 10 like it normally does...opps...

Then we went to the Hammonds and spend the day with them, there building had an easter egg hunt so Sarah went on her first egg hunt. It was so cool. She loved it, i loved watching her. Before the big event Chad took the kids to practise with some eggs, and Sarah was taught how to do look for eggs...she go the idea and before long she need what to do.

So then the big event, and she collected a basket of eggs, that were all blue...i don't understand how she did that but they were, then someone put some more out and the blue trend was lost but she had about 10 blue plastic eggs...strange.

She open them and inside the plastic eggs were sweets, she open the sweets put them in her mouth and spat it out. some of them she licked and then said bo yow (don't want) and handed it to me. My little girl really didn't want any of them, she wanted to open them but then didn't eat one single sweet, not even skittles...i got a chewed up one to eat spat into my hand...

Can i ask when did that happen, when did it become ok for me to get a chewed up sweet in my hand and just eat it and not bat an eyelid. Its SO gross, really gross. She does it a lot but what else am i meant to do with it other than eat it. I remember my mother doing it for me and for my kid sister, but it seems to have just happend that i am the one that gets to eat this glop!

Here are some wonderful little shots of the easter egg hunt, she is such a doll.

On Thursday we went to the amusement park that i in Taipei i've never been before but its great for little ones. It was free to get in as they are moving, but it would have only been 30 nt if we did have to pay (about 50p, or 1 dollar). Inside you pay 20 nt for the rides we went on 3 rides so it didn't cost more much at all. there are lots of playgrounds there so there i little need to go on the rides...

The first one we went on i didn't really want to go, i was sure i would feel sick...and i did. I can't handle any spinning around it makes me want to chuck my guts up. Sarah, and all little kids, love to spin, i put it down to an underdeveloped inner ear..and that mine is just so developed it can't handle being spun. We went on a little train that was way better, Sarah wasn't overly impressed...see photo. but when it stopped she wanted to go on it again, so i guess you can't always tell from the face she's pulling. The train was funny, inside the tunnel (which lasted about 1 1/2 seconds) there was a topless mermaid...really very topless and very out of place. I couldn't quite belive it, they are rather prudish in Taiwan and this was toddlers ride. SO strange. Taiwan is full of these miss matchs. Like the fcat they think its really dangerous to let a kid play with chopsticks or climb a ladder to go on a slide, but it's fine to pop them on the back of a scooter with no helmet on and ride around the city in rush hour...

we went to the amusement park with heather's niece, Eleanor, she had just arrived in Taiwan and never been before, she reminded me that this place is a bit strange. We also went with Gemma, so there we were 3 adult foreigners with 2 very blond kids and one little Sarah bear. The blond girls had people coming up to them wanting photos, of course..i say of course as i've seen this happen countless times. its really quite strange and sad. They bring there kid and ask to have a photo with the strange blond kid..what are they thinking?? i mean they get home look at the photos and show friends oh this is some stranger that i don't know with my kid, but look she's not Taiwanese! Its sad as the girls really hate it, Gemma says no touchy no touchy, and Lilli says bo yow (don't want). poor things. people try to touch them like they can't believe what they are seeing, they ask dumb questions like...is her hair real?? did you curl it?? err yer heather spends hours curling it every day...

like i said i don't know what they are thinking. I guess i am just grateful for growing up in a mixed country, but i think even if we did see something really strange we wouldn't act like they do, as we know it's not the done thing.

As for unpacking, its all done..but not all my stuff is here...so i guess it's not all done. how do you manage to accumulate so much stuff, stuff that you still really want. i came her with a couple of suitcases and now i have half a ton of stuff. Cooking stuff, clothes and toys are the main things. clothes are the biggest by far, i don't even buy many clothes i think i've brought a handful of things since being here. but my dear daughter has been given, brought and handed down, a lot of clothes. plus the things that i have brought her still fit her. She can wear things for so long that really she didn't need any more clothes. Ok so they are short on her but they still fit. She was wearing 3-6 month old trousers yesterday, and they just look a but short. Dresses have just turned into tops, it's nice. she gets a lot of mileage out of her stuff. i do worry a little bit that she's too skinny, but she's doing alright. She's 10 and half kilos now she was bit more before she got sick and i hope she getting i back soon. She’s all muscle i have to a say, she has seriously defined calves, they are like a cyclists. Amazing.

my folks send some me three parcels which was so great, one for Sarah full of clothes and crisps for her (healthy crisps..well healthier than normal ones), then a parcel for my birthday, with licorice in along with some nice tops but the licorice beats the tops hands down, i miss it a lot and love it so nice to get it again. Then we got a Easter egg parcel with three big Easter eggs in, one for me that is vegan, one for Sarah that wasn't and one for tom that wasn't either, but they liked them. Sarah will just have to eat a tiny bit at a time..which is fine as she isn't that bothered about them so you know its not a big deal.

post photos tomorrow..

My girls love egg hunts too. Only they are like drug addicts when it comes to candy. No way would a drop of candy come out of their faces let alone in my hand. Yucky mom stuff.
A topless mermaid??? WTF??? That is just bizarre!
How horrible that people try to take pictures and touch the blond girls hair. So strange. Maybe their mom could make up t shirts that say No Touch and Dont Ask. Course, they would have to wear them everywhere so maybe not practical.
I just went through the girls summer clothes yesterday. I tend to buy things big and roll up pant cuffs and sleeves so they last 2 or 3 years. Now I can pass them down too, or share. It is a lot of work to keep up clothes for that long what with nasty stains and crazy stuff, holes in weird places etc.
Anyway.
Kids have so much fun on those little rides, it is hilarious. Its great she is not scared of them all.
I think that is all. I feel very caught up now. But I will be fully content when I see the pics.
